The General Lake Tyers Beach

Delightful lunch with the wife on a winter Monday. Wife's BLAT was tasty, great bread, and generous in portion. My burger was yummy! Good bread, bacon, and salad. Nice drinks with each. Lovely decor, good vibe and staff who chat! And have fun getting rid of flys (we are in the country!)

An awesome place for brunch - twice! This gorgeous cafe is located down near Lake Tyers Beach and it seriously has it all! We visited a couple of weeks ago but the chef was unwell (meaning there wasn’t a full menu on offer) so we grabbed a breakfast roll and bacon and egg croissant. The food and service was so good that we decided to visit again when the chef was back on deck and we are so glad that we did! This time we both decided on the Chilli Prawn Scramble and the dishes were so good that we are still talking about them! You can always tell when a chef uses premium ingredients as it’s always a flavour sensation! In addition to the great food, the staff here are so friendly and really attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed and so much attention has gone into the decor that this place could easily be located in Melbourne. That said, the vibe is really casual and there is even a downstairs / outdoor area if you have a bigger group or just want to dine al fresco. Would definitely recommend this cafe - I know that we will be back and will be revisiting anytime we are in Lake Tyers!

Friendly little cafe, much quieter than the pub and more vegetarian options. We had two of the daily specials - pumpkin and sweet potato soup and spanakopita. Lots of seating options and an outside dog-friendly courtyard.

Excellent coffee, wonderful breakfasts, charming service. If this was in melbourne it would be one of the best around, and its in lake tyres beach so its even better views!!

My partner and I each had their chicken and fish burgers which were large and full of flavour. Brought the enormous vanilla slice and scone home too which did not disappoint. The stand out here is staff and how incredibly hospitable and approachable they were. There's an outdoor courtyard where you can sit down with your dog and enjoy the weather. Had to take our family here the next day as we were that impressed. I cannot fault anything here - really love everything about this place. Cannot wait to go back.

What a treasure! We made the short trip from Lakes Entrance to check out 'The General" and it didn't disappoint. We had a couple of Iced Coffee's and after narrowing down what to have for a sneaky pre breakfast snack landed on the Cheese Savoury Scone. The drinks and scone were both delicious and the service and atmosphere were welcoming. We will definitely be back on our next visit, looking forward to trying out the other treats. Keep up the great work.

This place is so good. Sat out front with our dog, beautiful view. Great service, speedy and quality food. Huge serving sizes. Came a couple of years ago, quality has not changed a bit. Love that I can get a matcha here too, which is a bit of a rarity while camping..

The General is one of those places that could be your destination if travelling through East Gippsland. You are greeted by professional service as you arrive, given the choice of where to sit, inside or out. Coffee is top-class. Food looks good. The General provides a reason to go for a drive to Lake Tyers.
